Got Books??

VSL(Very Short List) is a daily email that I signed up for years ago at the suggestion of my good friend Sarah Fishko of WNYC New York.  Simon Dumenco and Kurt Andersen started VSL in 2006.  I've been a member since then. I enjoy the tips I get on pop culture, literature, music and other items. Today VSL offered two gems I've been meaning to post here.  Check out VSL and the book lists.
The Millions' massive 2013 books preview is as vast as it is useful. Covering 79 titles, it's a many-splendored menu of reading delights.

For poetry fans, NPR offers the verse to watch for in a year "packed with powerful, important and comfortably slim volumes."

Another book-centered website I really enjoy is Book Riot. They have a section on their site called Book Fetish that has fantastic ideas of gifts for the book lovers in your life. I shop there myself, in addition to buying whatever I can get my hands on at Flyleaf. I am proud to say that 85% of my holiday gift budget was spent on book-related items this year.

Happy New Year to all.  Here's hoping 2013 brings good reading, good writing and good news.

The Rooster Crows

It's that time of year again.  The Morning News has announced its line-up of books for this year's tournament.  I've read some of these - Gone Girl, Arcadia, The Round House, and The Orphan Master's Son and look forward to reading the others.  It's a great list.

The Tournament of Books begins in March, so get reading!  Visit The Morning News website for more information and updates.  They have the list of judges and the long list of books that were considered if this list is too short for you.

Here are the titles that made it into the tournament.  Look for a table display coming soon to Flyleaf.
